Futsal is the format of small-sided soccer that is recognized and supported by FIFA and UEFA with World and European Championships. The United States Futsal Federation holds regional and national championships.

It is a five a side game, played with smaller goals and a smaller ball with a reduced bounce. Players are constantly placed in situations where they must play under pressure or in confined spaces. It places a considerable demand on the development of techniques, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.

Limited spaces are still available in all divisions. Call or email today.

NEWS UPDATE

Futsal is FIFA's official indoor soccer game which is, essentially, a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors. It is a small sided game (5v5) played on a smaller field (roughly basketball court sized) with a smaller (size 3-4) ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries. There are no walls in play. This is the game that outdoor soccer players around the globe play when they are indoors to refine and maintain their control skills and touch. It is superior to walled soccer in terms of developing better skills and technique. In traditional American walled soccer, players regularly whack the ball (and sometimes their bodies) against the boards which promotes improper technique and too often rewards errant play. In Futsal, players are constantly reminded to play the same quality control game that is required for success in the outdoor game.

RI State Champions and Finalists receive an automatic bid to Regionals. The 2009 Regional Chamipionships will be held in New York in February.

More and more coaches hear and see the benefits first hand that playing Futsal has on its young soccer players. This is evident in the United States, at large, and in Rhode Island, in particular, by the growing number of teams and players who are subscribing to the training and competitions offered by Futsal .

Why not let what was the best kept Brazilian national secret, FUTSAL, become your team's next greatest advantage in training and skills development! We welcome new teams to join in and take the first step today in their title quest for a USFF National Championship!

Futsal is the only "Official form of Indoor Soccer" approved by FIFA.  It is played on all the continents of the world in over 100 countries by more than 12 million players.

Futsal is played on a basketball-size court.  It can be played on a variety of surfaces.  The game does not require the use of expensive dasher board - walls, as do other versions of indoor soccer.

Without the walls, futsal is a great skill-developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking, and pin-point passing.  It is an exciting game for children as well as adults.

Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico and Socrates grew up playing the game and credit Futsal with developing their skills.  Futsal is played with a special low bounce ball, requiring players to use their skills, rather than the ball's bounce, to propel it.

The Oceaneers Futsal league is designed for beginners as well as premier players of all ages.  We invite everyone to take the opportunity to play and enjoy the great sport of futsal.  Once you try it you'll never want to stop!

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to find a team to play on.

Futsal is a sport that is a derivative of soccer and played with five-man teams on a basketball court, with no walls and a low bouncing ball, unlike the traditional sport of U.S. indoor soccer played with six-man squads and walls. Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico and Ronaldo grew up playing the game and credit Futsal with developing their skills. U.S. Futsal is under the banner of U.S. Soccer, which is the governing body for the sport in the United States.
